Yanukovych: Growth in Ukraine’s GDP in 2011 could be one of the best in Europe

Baku - APA-Economics. The growth in Ukraine’s gross domestic product (GDP) in 2011 could be among the best on the continent, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said, Interfax reported.

"We expect, as experts say, that this year Ukraine will have one of the best figures of gross domestic product growth on the continent," he said at a Singaporean-Ukrainian business forum in Singapore on Tuesday.

Yanukovych cited data showing that GDP grew by about 6% in January 2011.

He also said that the interest of foreign investors in Ukraine had considerably increased in recent years.

In particular, he noted that this year’s foreign investment had grown by almost 7% compared to last year. Yanukovych said that in total, foreign investment had grown by 12.6% since 2010, of which the largest figure was reported in the second half of 2010.
He said that this was a sign of the return of the confidence of foreign partners in Ukraine.
