Azerbaijan leads region in current account surplus

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev â€“ APA-Economics. Azerbaijan will lead the Caucasus and Central Asian region in terms of surplus in current account of payment in 2010, according to the IMFâ€™s outlook for the region.

According to the forecasts, Azerbaijanâ€™s current account surplus will rise from $8.3 billion in 2009 to $12 billion in 2010. The figure was $16.5 billion in 2008.

Current account surplus-to-GDP ratio is expected to be 19.6% in 2009 and 23.1% in 2010. the figure was 35.5% in 2008.

For the region, the surplus of balance of payment will be $22 billion in 2010. the figure will be $7.2 billion in Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, $4.7 billion in Kazakhstan, $2.3 billion in Uzbekistan.
