Azeri banks see 15% rise in total equity capital

Baku. Vahab Rzayev - APA-Economics. As of October 1, Azerbaijan-based commercial banksâ€™ total equity capital stood at AZN 1 711.1 million, up 24.8% or AZN 339.6 million from a year ago and up 14.7% or AZN 219.4 million from early this year, said the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.

According to the statistics, the banksâ€™ total capital grew by 2.1% or AZN 34.9 million during September alone.

There was no drop in capitalisation because of an increase either in authorized capital stock or retained income although there was a decline in assets, loan books and deposits during the first quarter.
