Azerbaijan-based banks see non-interest loss spiked

Baku. Vahab Rzayev â€“ APA-Economics. Azerbaijan-based commercial banks posted the total pretax profit at AZN 206.74 million for January-August 2009, up 14.1% or AZN 25.53 million on the same period last year, said Central Bank of Azerbaijan.

For this period, interest incomes reached AZN 680.75 million and interest expenses AZN 299.8 million while non-interest incomes stood at AZN 169.1 million and non-interest expenses AZN 269.3 million.

Net interest profit was AZN 380.93 million whereas net non-interest loss was AZN 100.16 million.

Interest profit increased by 10% and non-interest loss by three fold over the past year.
