Aydin Aliyev: I hope we will fully meet forecasts by year-end

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev - APA-Economics. Azerbaijan State Customs Committee hopes to fully meet the budget projections for customs duties and taxes in 2009, said Aydin Aliyev, Chairman of the Committee.

According to him, there has been a fall in customs duties and taxes since early this year.

â€œHowever, we see recovery in the first ten-day of June. In addition, the recent increase in oil prices also gives hope that we will meet the forecasts,â€ he added.

In his words, there was a 8.3% drop in imports during the first four months 2009.

He said car imports fell by 43% during the first 3 months.

21 871 cars were imported to Azerbaijan in January-April 2009, down 2.7% in number and 12.8% in value from a year ago.

The budget target for the State Customs Committee is AZN 1.5 billion for 2009.
