CIS countries seek a common information space for customs

Gabala. Nijat Mustafayev - APA-Economics. The CIS country intend to create a common information space for customs, said Andrey Belyaninov, Head of Russian Federal Customs Service.

According to him, this move will enhance cooperation in customs issues between the CIS countries and to simplify the process of crossing interstate borders.

He said the member countries should hold constructive discussions on some issues which have not been agreed on yet.

“For example, Russia currently exchanges information with Belarus on-line. We have also achieved such link with Kazakhstan,” he added.

In his words, the issue of establishing a common information space for the customs is being discussed at the 49th meeting of the Council of Heads of Customs Services of CIS Countries in Gabala (Azerbaijan).

The meeting is attended by senior customs officials of 9 countries (Azerbaijan, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan).
