Heads of CIS Customs Services meet in Azerbaijan

Gabala. Nijat Mustafayev - APA-Economics. The 49th meeting of the Council of Heads of Customs Services of CIS countries has kicked off in Gabala, Azerbaijan.

As APA-Economics correspondent in Gabala reports, the meeting is attended by senior officials from customs services of 9 countries (Azerbaijan, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan).

Aydin Aliyev, Chairman of Azerbaijan State Customs Service, talked about the history of his country’s customs authorities.

According to him, the meeting will discuss a number of pressing issues on the customs activities including a report by the Secretary of the Council on the implementation of decisions taken at the 48th meeting, the exchange of information on preliminary data of the customs services of Moldova and Ukraine, the inventory of the international legal framework of CIS member states, the plan for implementation of a Concepts for cadre training at the Russian Academy of Customs until 2011, etc.

Andrey Belyaninov, Head of Russian Federal Customs Service, underscored the importance of the meeting, adding that the 50th meeting will be held in Kazan (Tatarstan).

He also briefed the participants about the recent establishment of a new customs union between Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan.
