UN report: Azerbaijanâ€™s economy expects positive growth in 2009

Lachin Sultanova â€“ APA. â€œThe region of UN Economic Commission for Europe, which united 56 countries from Europe, North America and CIS, has passed into the deepest backlog period of the economy in 2008 since the World War IIâ€, said UN report â€œThe Economic Commission for Europe in 2008-2009: economic situation in Europe, North America and CISâ€. The CIS countries with rich energy resources â€“ Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan significantly increased their indications as against 1989. The rate of economic growth is forecasted 5.1 % in the CIS countries in 2009. Azerbaijan, Albania, Cyprus, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan expected the positive growth in 2009, which will be sustainable in Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, said the report.
