International organizations will join Azerbaijanâ€™s New State Programme for Development of Regions

The Ministry said the event was attended by representatives from the European Commission, OSCE, UN, USAID, GTZ, SECO, TIKA, the World Bank, KfW and the Asian Development Bank.

The aim of the round table was to inform the Azerbaijan-based offices of the international financial institutions and donor organizations of the new state programme and discuss their possible involvement.

Asker Alekberov, Officer of the Ministry, underlined the successful completion of the first state programme (2004-2008) and the importance of involving international financial institutions and donor organizations in implementing the new state programme.

Sahib Mammadov, Officer of the Ministry, delivered a presentation of the new state programme.

Representatives of international financial institutions and donor organizations talked about the projects implemented in Azerbaijan with their support and expressed interest in participating new projects.

For example, EU TACÄ°S Programme project manager Reychl Makkovan, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative of Nura Hamlachi, Swiss SECO Representative for Azerbaijan Philip Keller, GTZ economist Sandra Dompke, IFC officer for Azerbaijan Aliya Azimova and others expressed their intention to participate in the implementation of the new state programme.
