“Azerbaijan hosts major international sports competitions with distinction,” said Kamaladdin Heydarov, President of the Azerbaijan Taekwondo Federation, at the opening ceremony of the Republic Champions and National Taekwondo Championship, Apasport.az reports.
The Federation President noted that thanks to the attention and support of President Ilham Aliyev to sports, Azerbaijani athletes successfully perform at prestigious international tournaments: “This is a very encouraging development for us. Winning 156 medals throughout the year, including 53 gold, confirms the sustainable development of taekwondo in our country and the growing interest in this sport year by year.”
Noted that the National Championship, which started on December 24, will conclude on December 27.
