The opening ceremony of the Azerbaijan Taekwondo championship dedicated to the 100th anniversary of National Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev was held, Apasport reports.
The President of the Azerbaijan Taekwondo Federation Kamaladdin Heydarov, vice-presidents, as well as the Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov participated in the event held at the Baku Sports Palace.
Then Kamaladdin Heydarov delivered a speech. The president of the federation wished the athletes success in the championship:
"As you can see from the video, the National Leader has always taken great care of all types of sports in Azerbaijan. The development of Azerbaijani sports during the leadership of Mr. President Ilham Aliyev is obvious. Azerbaijani taekwondo players have achieved great achievements in recent years. It is very gratifying that one of the four possible licenses for the Olympics has already been awarded. We won. You can be sure that taekwondo players will always keep Azerbaijan's reputation in the sports field high. Athletes of the victorious state should also constantly work to raise Azerbaijan's sports reputation."
It should be noted that the contests of the teenagers was concluded yesterday. The championship will end on December 28.
