Jafar Jafarov (45 kg) of Azerbaijan defeated Türkiye's Abubakr Gur 16:7 in his debut in the U-17 European wrestling tournament in Tirana, Albania's capital, the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation announced, APA reports.

The Azerbaijani wrestler easily overcame his Armenian opponent Armen Papikyan (10:0) and went to the semi-finals. Pavlo Ilnitsky of Poland was able to stand in front of J. Jafarov for only 35 seconds - 10:0. In the final, J. Jafarov will face Georgian Mate Tsinadze.

Seyhun Alizadeh (51 kg) was defeated in the 1/8 finals by Armenian Sasha Petrosyan - 2:15. S. Alizade will face British Danush Yovkar in the consolation round as the opponent advanced to the finals.

In the 1/8 finals, Jamal Abbasov (60 kg) defeated Frenchman Abdullah Nakayev 11:0. Azerbaijani wrestler also defeated Greek Flippos Psoma by a score of 6:0. J. Abbasov defeated Turkish Vahid Ylmaz in the semi-finals (10:0) and advanced to the European Championship final for the second time. Akramat Shakriyev of Russia will face Jamal in the decisive match.

Although Ismayil Rahimli (71 kg) defeated Arnas Linkeviius of Lithuania with a score of 10:0, he was defeated by Narek Nikogosyan of Armenia in the quarterfinals by a narrow margin (2:3). The opponent's advancement to the final gave I. Rahimli a chance to capture a bronze medal. In the consolation match, Ismail will face Yoseb Mefarishvili of Georgia.
