"Thankfully, we won a license for the Paris-2024 Summer Olympic Games. Most importantly, I won a medal and a license by defeating my Armenian opponent," Azerbaijani boxer Murad Allahverdiyev said after the fight in which he won against Armenian Hambardzum Hakobyan in the 1/4 final stage of the III European Games, APA's correspondent assigned to Poland reports.

Having defeated his opponent with a score of 5:0, the athlete advanced to the semi-finals and secured at least a bronze medal for himself. Allahverdiyev won a license for the Paris-2024 Summer Olympic Games as he advanced to the "quadruple" in the competition. He said that he is not going to be satisfied with this and his goal is the championship: "The most important thing is that I have a bronze medal. But I don't want to stop there. I believe I will be a champion. My main goal is to win the gold medal of Paris-2024. I thank those who supported me in the arena. The support of the fans gave me strength. Support became motivation. In the end, I won and made the fans happy."

According to Allahverdiyev, he will face Gabriel Veocic (Croatia) in the semi-finals for the first time: "Every athlete is excited. As my opponent was also Armenian, I was very excited and I understood that I should not lose. There was no fear, but excitement of not losing. I still have two fights to go. I hope to perform successfully and win the gold medal by defeating them. I know about my competitors. The Croatian athlete I will face in the semi-finals previously performed in the 86 kg weight category. We will meet for the first time. I hope to defeat him and make it to the finals."

It should be noted that Murad will participate in the semi-final fight on June 30.
