Azerbaijan Taekwondo Federation: Arrival of 1500 athletes from 150 countries to world championship in Baku is expected

"The World Championship in Azerbaijan is of particular importance for us, as it coincides with the 100th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev and the 50th anniversary of the World Taekwondo Federation," said the vice president of the Azerbaijan Taekwondo Federation, Nagi Safarov at press conference on the final preparations for the World Championship to be held in Baku, APA reports.

Nagi Safarov, vice-president of the Taekwondo Federation of Azerbaijan, who said that there was very little time left before the championship, stressed that everything is going according to plan:

"He stressed that he is confident that Azerbaijan, which has extensive experience in organizing international sports competitions, will also successfully host the World Championship: “This is the largest competition before the Paris-2024 Summer Olympic Games. The arrival of 1500 athletes from 150 countries is expected. There are currently 90 registered countries. In total, we expect the arrival of 3000-3500 guests.”

After Russia, the World Championship will be held in Azerbaijan for the second time among the CIS countries. Azerbaijan will become the 7th among the European countries that will host the World Cup, after Germany, Denmark, Spain, Greece, Russia and Great Britain.
