The Dow Jones industrial average advanced 51.99, or 0.41 percent, to 12,673.68, passing a historical record close of 12,621.77 set Jan. 24, the APA reports.
The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index gained 7.70 points, or 0.54%, to finish at 1 445.94, its highest close since September 2000, while the Nasdaq Composite Index rose 4.45 points, or 0.18%, to close at 2 468.38.
Google Inc. reported a sharp rise in profits, though investors used to outsize gains weren’t wowed. The stock was off $19.75, or 3.9 percent, at $481.75.
Boeing Co.’s shares hit a record high of $92.24 before finishing up $1.49 at $91.05.
Light sweet crude was down 84 cents at $57.30 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, March Brent crude at London’s ICE Futures exchange fell 68c to $56.72 a barrel.
London FTSE 100 index gained 1.26 per cent to finish at 6,282.20 points.
In Paris the CAC 40 rose 0.95 per cent to finish at 5,662.25 points while in Frankfurt the Dax added 0.91 per cent to 6,851.28 points.
Japan’s Nikkei stock average closed up 0.78 percent. /APA/
