Baku-APA. EU Rule of law mission arrested on Wednesday lawmaker Uke Rugova, the son of late leader of Kosovo, Ibrahim Rugova, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

In a morning raid, EULEX arrested seven more people "suspected to be involved in a criminal group which allegedly committed criminal acts of organised crime, fraud and unlawful influence", in a joint operation with Kosovo police.

Rugova's lawyer told the press his defendant is presenting his facts to EULEX investigators at his home, as the raid is still going on. Rugova junior is serving his first MP mandate which started in 2010, while his father Ibrahim Rugova was Kosovo's president from 2002 until his death in January 2006.

In a similar operation, EULEX arrested on Tuesday evening in northern Kosovo the former commander of Serbian police units in northern Kosovo, Dragoljub Delibasic, on charges of crimes against Albanian population.

During a night riot in February 2000, 10 Albanians got killed in northern Serb-dominated northern part of Mitrovica.

Recent EULEX operation occurs at a time when EU and Kosovo officials are discussing the future mandate of the mission which is due to expire by June. It's most likely that the mission will be transformed to a smaller unit, which will obviously operate under the umbrella of EU office in Kosovo.
