Snow caused serious problems in two largest cities of the country, APA reports citing Turkish media.
Snowfall began on February 9 and engulfed Istanbul late yesterday. The city governor wrote on his Twitter page that the classes were suspended due to heavy snowfall. The disabled and pregnant employees working in public institutions will be considered permissible today.
One-day holiday was announced in night school in Ankara due to the bad weather.
The snowstorm had a negative impact on daily life in Mermere, Ege and other regions. Istanbul-Bandirma sea transport was cancelled due to the storm with the speed of 80km/h.
The heavy snowfall seriously affected the daily life in Gartal, Maltepe, Sanjagtepe and Chamlija.
Ataturk Airport of the Turkish Airlines has cancelled 83 domestic and international flights.
