Baku-APA. The economy and labor ministers of Italy, France, Germany and Spain will gather in Rome on June 14 to talk about policies against rising unemployment, a statement from the Italian government said on Wednesday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
The meeting will be part of the Italian efforts to promote a common strategy to fight against unemployment ahead of a European Union summit on June 27-28 focused on the labor crisis, as well as a youth unemployment conference in Berlin on July 3 and a G20 ministerial meeting in Moscow in mid-July, the statement said.
In the Rome gathering, which was firstly proposed by Italian Labor Minister Enrico Giovannini, ministers are set to discuss synergies of financial and labor policies both at a national and European level, the statement added.
According to figures released by the Italian national statistics institute Istat last week, youth unemployment in the recession-hit country reached a record high of nearly 42 percent in the first quarter of this year.
Prime Minister Enrico Letta announced his government will approve an "anti-unemployment plan" before summer after he discussed with European Council President Herman Van Rompuy the proposals they will submit to counteract youth unemployment at the next European Council.
