Georgian PM congratulates Muslims on occasion of Eid el-Adha

Tbilisi. Nizami Mammadzadeh – APA. Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has met with Muslims living in the country on the occasion of Kurban Bayrami (Eid el-Adha). APA’s Georgia correspondent reports that the PM visited Juma mosque in Tbilisi, made speech and said he wants to join this holiday: “This holiday is a great day in the Islamic world. I want to congratulate you on the occasion of the holiday. This day is connected with victory, hope, welfare and peace”.

"We should once again show everyone that we, Georgian Muslims and Georgian Christians, live harmoniously together.”

Garibashvili said he was always proud of his country’s cultural diversity. He vowed he would never let any conflict take place in Georgia, especially on a religious basis.

Sheikh of Georgian Muslims Ramin Igidov, Mufti of All Georgia Jemal Paksadze, Turkish Ambassador to Georgia Zeki Levent made speeches and wished all families peace and tranquility.

The event was also attended by State Minister of Georgia for Integration Paata Zakareishvili, representatives of diplomatic corpus, Assistant to the Prime Minister Savalan Mirzeyev and other officials, as well as heads of Muslim communities in Georgia, ministers of religion, confessors, members of the public and journalists.
