Baku-APA. France was ready to work with the newly-elected Iranian moderate cleric Hassan Rohani, urging him to take concrete moves to build the confidence with the West, Foreign Affairs Ministry said Tuesday, APA reports quoting Xinhua..
"France has taken note of the election of Mr. Hassan Rohani and ... was determined, with its partners ... to find a long-term diplomatic solution," to suspend Teheran's uranium enrichment activities, the ministry's spokesman Philippe Lalliot said.
"We expect Iran to make concrete steps to build confidence with full implementation of resolutions of the U.N. Security Council and the IAEA," he added at an electronic daily briefing.
Rohani on Monday said he looked to reshape better relations between Iran and the world and pledged to be "transparent" in its nuclear issue to "build confidence."
But he asked Washington and the West to recognize Tehran's right to enrich uranium.
Tehran repeatedly insisted on peaceful aspect of its nuclear program, but the United States and its western allies worry that Iran would use the uranium enrichment to make nuclear weapons.
