Baku-APA. A plane suffering from apparent engine failure was forced to make an emergency landing in Istanbul on Tuesday, APA reports quoting Anadolu agency.
According to officials at Ataturk International Airport, the Cathay-Pacific Boeing 777-367ER was flying from Milan, Italy to Hong Kong when it experienced a technical problem.
The plane was in Turkish airspace when the pilot asked for emergency landing permission, the unnamed airport source -- who spoke on condition of anonymity -- said.
The aircraft landed safely 5.30 p.m. local time [1530GMT], and it was towed to a hangar to be investigated for a technical problem.
No injuries or damage was reported; passengers were transferred to an airport terminal.
