Baku-APA. 15 more police chiefs were removed from their posts at Turkish National Police Department in Ankara, adding to a series of removals within the police system following a graft probe that started on Dec 17, local media reported Friday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Earlier on Thursday, 4 police officers including Erzurum Police Department intelligence chief and the Mersin Police Department's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Bureau head were removed from their posts, according to local Today's Zaman.

Since Dec. 17, the number of police officers who have been removed from their posts across Turkey has exceeded 500, the report added.

On Dec. 17, Turkey was rocked by the country's largest ever bribery investigation, in which sons of four cabinet members were detained and a huge amount of money was seized by authorities in their houses.

The Justice and Development Party government then dismissed several police chiefs in charge of the raid and reshuffle the cabinet.
