The U.S. administration last week presented a new framework agreement to Ukraine regarding security guarantees, RBC-Ukraine reported, citing its own sources, APA reports.
According to the information, the document was prepared on the principles of NATO’s Article 5 and includes three main provisions.
Under the agreement, if Russia launches another armed attack on Ukraine, the U.S. President is granted the authority to use armed forces, intelligence and logistical support, as well as economic and diplomatic measures, to defend the country.
The document also obliges NATO members, as well as France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Poland, and Finland, to act in coordination with the United States.
The framework agreement is intended for a period of 10 years and may be extended in the future.
