The total number of fatalities in the Russia-Ukraine war will reach half a million, said Rosemary DiCarlo, Deputy Secretary General of the UN in the meeting of the Security Council regarding the situation in Ukraine, APA reports.
She has not provided accurate figures regarding civilian and military casualties.
"The numbers are profoundly distressing. According to the Human Rights Commission's information, 545 of them being children, at least 9444 civilians have perished. In reality, the figures might be even higher. According to certain calculations, the combined total of civilian and military personnel fatalities on both sides could reach half a million," stated the representative of the organization.
According to the organization's latest published report on July 30th, since February of the previous year, a total of 9369 civilians have lost their lives, and 16646 individuals have been wounded.
