The Ukrainian gas transmission system will be able to transport gas only of non-Russian origin starting at 07:00 on 1 January 2025, the Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said, APA reports citing Ukrainska Pravda.
"The gas transit agreement expires on 1 January 2025; the transit will be physically blocked at 07:00, and the resumption of transit will only be possible if, at the request of the European Commission, we transport non-Russian gas through our system."
According to Shmyhal, under the Association Agreement with the EU and the Energy Charter Treaty, Ukraine is obliged to ensure the transit of Russian oil to Europe at the European Commission's request.
"In this regard, technically, transit at the request of the European side continues. However, we are working to impose 100% of sanctions on Russian molecules," he said.
