The head of the country’s national bank, Andriy Pyshny, said Ukraine received the first tranche of $2.7 billion from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as part of a new financing program, APA reports citing Newsunrolled.
“Ukraine has received the first tranche from the IMF under the new expanded financing program. That’s 2 billion special drawing rights, which equates to about $2.7 billion,” Pyshny wrote on Facebook* (an extremist social network banned in Russia).
On March 31, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Board of Directors approved the allocation of $15.6 billion to Ukraine as part of a four-year loan program. It was noted that this is the largest loan for Ukraine and the first significant financing package from the IMF for a country involved in the conflict.
In February, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that Kiev expects to receive the first tranche from the IMF in the first or second quarter of this year.
