Turkish MFA strongly responds to report of European Commission

The report issued by the European Union (EU) Commission on Türkiye today once again reveals the EU's distant approach to our country from the strategic standpoint, it was stated in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye, APA's Istanbul correspondent reports.

The statement noted that this report, which ignores the responsibilities towards Türkiye, a candidate country for the organization, and shows a double standard, is another example of the biased attitude of the EU towards Türkiye.

"Although the importance of joint action and cooperation against common challenges was emphasized at the first meeting of the European Political Union held on October 6 with the participation of our head of state, it is regrettable that this spirit of solidarity was not reflected in the Report of Türkiye. We do not accept unfounded claims and unfair criticism. We completely reject the unfair claims of the EU, which did not remove political obstacles in the negotiations, against our political system, politicians and administrators, basic rights and freedoms in our country, some court decisions, and our fight against terrorism," the statement reads.
