Several people were injured in a knife attack on a train in England, according to a statement released by Cambridgeshire Police, APA reports.
"We received a call at 7:39 PM reporting that several people had been injured in a knife attack on a train. Armed police officers arrived on scene, and the train was stopped at Huntingdon station, where two men were detained. Several people were taken to hospital," law enforcement officials reported.
The Times, citing eyewitnesses, reports that a man armed with a large knife began attacking people after the train departed Peterborough station. Some passengers hid in restrooms. There has been no official comment on the attack yet.
According to Thameslink, Huntingdon station is closed, with train services suspended in both directions. Other rail operators are warning of significant delays and cancellations for trains traveling from London to the north of the country, including to Manchester, Leicester, and Sheffield. Even services between Scotland's largest cities, Edinburgh and Glasgow, are affected.
