Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy has commented on the court ruling against him, he wrote in this regard on X, APA reports.

Sarkozy stated that he does not accept the charges that are not based on any evidence, but is prepared to face the law:

"I do not intend to appeal the court's decision, but I also refuse to accept injustice. In this case, both my rights and the requirements of the European Court of Human Rights have been violated. However, an appeal to this court might harm my country and its reputation. At this point, I simply want to defend my rights and prove my innocence. I am absolutely determined in this matter. I believe that, in the end, justice will prevail. When it does, everyone will have to answer to the French people."

Note that France's Supreme Court upheld the three-year prison sentence for former President Nicolas Sarkozy.

The decision was made based on an appeal against the verdict in a criminal case brought against him on charges of "influence peddling." He is to serve one year of his sentence under house arrest with an electronic bracelet, while the remaining two years will be suspended.
