Turkish Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar held a phone conversation with Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu, said Turkish Ministry of National Defense, APA's Istanbul correspondent reports.
It was noted that bilateral and regional defence and security issues, mainly Ukraine and Syria, were discussed during the phone conversation.
Akar stressed the importance of an urgent ceasefire to prevent more human deaths and to establish peace and stability in the region.
Akar reiterated that Turkiye, which is trying to provide all kinds of support for humanitarian aid, is ready to do its part for the establishment of peace in the region, as it has done so far.
In addition, Akar emphasized that the prevention of the terrorism threat and the corridor and the neutralization of terrorist organizations in the context of Northern Syria is a priority for his country.
