Russian forces launched a large-scale artillery attack on the city of Kherson on the morning of 20 December, hitting apartment blocks, APA reports citing Ukrainska Pravda.
Civilians are reported to have been injured. The Ukrainian authorities are urging people to stay in shelters.
"Kherson is under a large-scale bombardment. Civilians have been injured! Many apartment blocks have been hit," Roman Mrochko, Head of Kherson City Military Administration said.
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson Oblast Military Administration noted that the city was under a large-scale artillery attack and urged people to take cover.
A 76-year-old man was severely injured in the morning bombardment. He sustained a mine-blast injury and a shrapnel wound to his chest.
Another man, aged 63, was taken to hospital with concussion, along with mine-blast and closed head injuries.
At 06:39, Mrochko reported that a third person had been injured and taken to hospital following the large-scale Russian attack on Kherson. The injured man, aged 44, sustained blast injuries and a traumatic amputation of fingers on his right hand.
