President Andrzej Duda has supported the decision of the country's Constitutional Court Chairman, Bogdan Święczkowski, to initiate a criminal case against Prime Minister Donald Tusk on charges of an attempted coup, he said in his interview with Kanal Zero, APA reports.
Although he did not directly mention names, he noted that the serious violations of the law committed by some state officials had a systematic nature: "Such gross violations of the law primarily harm our country's Constitution. As for the Chairman of the Constitutional Court, Bogdan Święczkowski is quite an experienced and qualified lawyer."
Yesterday, the Polish Constitutional Court instructed Prosecutor Mikhail Ostrovski to launch an investigation process concerning the accusations against Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
Note that the disagreements between the Constitutional Court and the Prime Minister are related to his intention to cleanse the judiciary system from the Law and Justice party’s allies, who were in power between 2017-2023.
