Starting today, Poland has suspended the issuance of work visas under the simplified procedure for citizens of Georgia, APA’s local bureau reports.
The decision was made by the Polish government.
Under the decision, Georgian citizens who already hold a Polish work visa may continue working until their visa expires. All applications submitted to the Polish Embassy before the new regulation comes into force will be reviewed under the previous rules.
Note that in Poland, an employer would submit an application to the local office regarding the employment of a Georgian citizen, after which the applicant could apply to the embassy and no interview was required. The work visa was issued for a period of two years.
The decision to change the procedure for Georgian citizens was adopted in August of this year. Poland’s Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Protection stated that the new rules are connected to the European Union’s discussions on the possible restriction of the visa-free regime with Georgia due to the current political situation in the country.
In 2024, the number of Georgian citizens working in Poland amounted to 47,086.
At present, the simplified work-visa procedures in Poland apply to citizens of Armenia, Belarus, Moldova, and Ukraine.
