Starting from September 1, NATO’s new Multicorps Land Forces Command has begun operations in the city of Mikkeli, Finland, in coordination with the country’s Land Forces Command, APA reports citing the Finnish Army’s press service.
According to the information, in the initial phase, a staff of approximately 10 personnel will operate at the command. In the coming years, this number is expected to increase to around 50. The personnel of the new structure consists of military personnel from NATO member countries, including Finland.
It is noted that the main task of the command is to provide leadership and control for NATO’s land forces, as well as to coordinate the activities of national land forces in the Northern region. This also includes planning, preparation, and management of joint exercises.
