European Council President Charles Michel congratulated on Monday British Prime Minister-elect Rishi Sunak on him becoming the Conservative Party's leader and the United Kingdom's head of government, APA reports citing Teletrader.
"Working together is the only way to face common challenges … and bringing stability is key to overcoming them," Michel tweeted.
In his first speech as prime minister, Sunak said he intends to "work day in, day out to deliver for the British people" as the country faces "profound economic challenge."
