Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel is planning to write an autobiographical book about her political career, Der Spiegel reported on Friday citing her office manager Beate Baumann, APA reports citing Teletrader.
Baumann stressed Merkel doesn't want to "retell her whole life" but would like to "explain her central political decisions in her own words." She also added that Merkel doesn't intend to use any outside help to write the book. "The chancellor and I are sure that, if we do this book, then we will do it alone, without ghostwriters, without historians, without journalists," her aide noted.
Merkel officially stepped down earlier this week after 16 years in power and handed the chancellorship to Social Democratic Party (SPD) leader Olaf Scholz.
