The Chairman of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), Ekrem Imamoglu, faces up to 7 years and 4 months in prison for his remarks about Istanbul Chief Prosecutor Akin Gurlek and his family, APA's Istanbul correspondent reports.
A relevant indictment has been prepared regarding this matter.
The indictment, prepared by the Terror Crimes Investigation Bureau of the Istanbul Republic Prosecutor's Office, emphasizes that the statements made by Imamoglu in public contained insulting language and aimed to degrade Akin Gurlek, who holds a public position.
The indictment has been sent to the Heavy Penal Court for review.
