“The gradual progress and eventual superiority of Ukrainians signifies their pushing the Russians back,” said Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary-General in an interview with CNN, APA reports.
According to him, Ukrainians have liberated several heavily defended areas in a very serious manner.
“Supporting Ukraine at a time when there are mined areas is more important. We all know that intense and heavy fighting is taking place. It's not easy for Ukrainians, but they are advancing, gaining victories," Stoltenberg said.
The NATO Secretary-General noted that the alliance's allies provide military assistance and financial support to Ukraine, but the most complex and difficult decisions are made by Ukrainian commanders.
At a time when Ukraine's counter-offensive speed has raised concerns among some allies, the NATO leader stated that Ukrainians have achieved significant successes so far.
“We must trust them. We advise, assist, and support them. But all decisions must be made by Ukrainians," Stoltenberg said.
