During the meeting of the Turkish and German Foreign Ministers in Berlin, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul stated that they support Türkiye's EU membership efforts, APA reports, citing Anadolu Agency.
According to the information, the parties discussed bilateral relations, the situation in Ukraine and the Middle East, the fight against terrorism and Türkiye's EU membership process.
Wadephul confirmed that Berlin supports Türkiye's integration into Europe and said that he is in favor of granting Türkiye access to the SAFE mechanism as an important NATO ally.
"If Türkiye wants to join the EU, Germany will be a reliable and friendly partner for it," the minister noted.
Hakan Fidan, in turn, said that Germany remains Türkiye's largest trading partner and that Ankara is ready to advance membership negotiations.
