Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili has expressed her stance on the impeachment attempt by the "Georgian Dream" party, APA's Tbilisi correspondent reports.
President Zurabishvili, in her address to the public, emphasized that she will remain in her position and continue with her scheduled visits.
"I am where I should be, and wherever I need to go, I will go. This is my constitutional duty."
The President emphasized that she holds responsibility only to the people, and that is why she is addressing the public.
She noted that the people elected her because they recognize her commitment to Europe and Georgia's European future, and she is aware of that.
Zurabishvili pointed out that the country faces issues such as corruption, emigration of the population, and uncontrolled entry of Russians, and emphasized that these problems should be addressed step by step.
According to her, all institutions in Georgia should do everything within their powers to promote the country's integration into Europe, which is why she has been to Berlin, Brussels, and Paris.
Zurabishvili stated that her trip to Europe was carried out at her own expense, but she acknowledged that it is not appropriate for presidents to attend such important meetings on their own account. She mentioned that she will continue her travels and has plans to visit other European capitals as well.
The President emphasized that Georgia will never fall under the influence of Russia.
