Former British Chancellor of the Exchequer Nigel Lawson died at the age of 91, APA reports citing the Daily Telegraph.
Lawson will be "remembered for his clarity of thinking, commitment to free market economics and willingness to challenge orthodoxies," the Conservative Party's chairman Greg Hands said.
The former finance secretary served in the government of Margaret Thatcher from 1981 until 1989, and was the MP for the Blaby constituency between 1974 and 1992 when he retired. He remained actively engaged in the United Kingdom's politics until last year in the House of Lords, and was a prominent advocate of Brexit.
