Former Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Romeo Mikautadze has been sentenced to 10 years in prison, Tbilisi City Court announced, APA’s local bureau reports.
According to the decision, the former deputy minister has also been banned from holding public office for two years. Several of his properties in Georgia and Spain, as well as his 15% stake in the “Nakhiduri” hydropower plant, have also been confiscated.
Note that Romeo Mikautadze was detained in June last year. He was accused of abuse of office and legalization of illegal income worth millions of lari.
Mikautadze served as Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia in 2021–2022, and as First Deputy Minister in 2022–2024.
