Ukraine is losing, and the European Union no longer wants to send Kyiv its own funds to cover military expenses, said Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, answering questions from members of the National Council (parliament), APA reports
"Ukraine is losing the war. It has no funds," said the prime minister, whose speech was published on the parliament's website. "A significant number of [EU] member states are convinced that money should continue to be sent to Ukraine, regardless of the corruption scandals that have occurred there recently."
Meanwhile, according to Fico, some European countries are losing confidence in Ukraine due to corruption scandals. Questions are being raised about the Ukrainian authorities' ability to ensure that the allocated funds are used for their intended purposes. The Slovak Prime Minister believes that EU countries are no longer willing to provide their funds to Ukraine and are therefore discussing the idea of confiscating Russian assets for subsequent transfer to Kyiv's military needs.
