The European Parliament has adopted another resolution concerning Georgia, APA’s local bureau reports.

438 members voted in favor of the document, while 37 voted against it.

The resolution strongly condemns what it describes as “politically motivated” arrests in Georgia and calls for the immediate release of “political prisoners.”

The document also emphasizes the need to repeal several laws recently adopted in Georgia.

The European Parliament called on the European Union and its member states to impose sanctions on Georgian officials.

It should be noted that the Georgian authorities consider the resolutions adopted by the European Parliament regarding the country to be insignificant. Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili today described the discussions organized by MEPs about Georgia as “shameful.”
