The human rights dialogue planned to be held on November 21 in Brussels between Georgia and the European Union (EU) has been postponed, APA’s local bureau reports, citing Georgia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the Ministry, the EU postponed the meeting with a completely unacceptable and unfounded excuse.
It was noted that the Georgian side considered this meeting as an opportunity for engagement with the EU.
“The Georgian side remains committed to a constructive approach and believes that there is no alternative to dialogue with partners. Accordingly, after the full restoration of the dialogue suspended by Brussels with Georgia, we will review our possibility to participate in dialogue formats with the European Union in various directions,” the statement said.
It should be noted that the EU–Georgia human rights dialogue is held annually. The last dialogue took place in 2023. No information has been found indicating that such a meeting was held in 2024.
