Turkish parliamentarian: â€œAlternative energy transportation routes should be found to put an end to the dependence of some European countries on Russiaâ€

Fuad Gulubeyliâ€“APA. â€œThe European Union should give more attention to the South Caucasusâ€, Turkish parliamentarian Birgen Keless said during the discussions in PACE on the Russia-Georgia conflict, APA European bureau reports. He said the conflict showed that how late was the European Union to come into action. â€œSome European countries have an energy dependence on Russia. It needs to find alternative transportation routes to put an end to this dependenceâ€. Kelesh said Georgia was an important transit point in the transportation of energy resources and assumed great importance for both the European Union and Turkey. He stated that Turkey supported Georgiaâ€™s territorial integrity. Kelesh brought attention to the importance of Turkeyâ€™s initiative of the Caucasian Peace and Stability Platform to set stability and trust in the region.
