Turkish journalist organizations to hold extraordinary meeting

Ankara – APA. Turkey’s journalist organizations will hold an extraordinary meeting in connection with Prime Minister Recep Tayyp Erdogan’s calling his supporters to boycott media. APA reports that Turkey Journalists Society called all media outlets to the extraordinary meeting on September 30.
The country’s opposition severely reacted to the Prime Minister’s call. Leader of Republic People’s Party Deniz Baykal said Recep Tayyip Erdogan was inclined to totalitarianism and dictatorship.
“They will probably attempt to impede the publication of the newspapers,†he said.
Deputy parliamentary group leader of the Nationalist Movement Party Oktay Vural said the Prime Minister wanted to establish obedient media that would not cover cases of corruption.
