Istanbul. Mais Alizadeh–APA. “If President Abdullah Gul’s visit creates new platform for solution of problems between the two countries besides the football match, it can be approached positively”, Ercan Chitlioglu, head of Bahcheshehir University’s Research Center told APA. He said Armenia’s occupation of Azerbaijani lands for more than 15 years was prior problem between Armenia and Turkey. “Discussions between the presidents of both countries over the issue, which was recognized all over the world as a fact of occupation, will be important in view of specification of Yerevan’s position on this issue. We concern that Armenia has not recognized our borders and tries to force us to accept their false “genocide” claims and rejects our proposal to establish joint commission. If these issues are discussed at the meeting and Armenian position is cleared, it will have certain importance. I believe Turkey will focus on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict at the meeting and the visit will not cool relations between the two fraternal countries”. Ercan Chitlioglu said the Caucasian Stability Pact was miscarried baby. “I can’t believe that this initiative will be realized because of Russian position and US coolness to this issue. Turkish-Armenian understanding is not enough for realization of this pact. The Russian position on this issue is important and US reaction to the Russian and Armenian places in this fact is also decisive”.
