Baku – APA. Prime Ministers of Slovenia, the Czech Republic and Latvia Janez Jansa, Mirek Topolanek and Ivars Godmanis made a joint statement in Bled Strategic Forum in Slovenia on the restoration of peace and stability in the Caucasus and integration of the region into European Union, APA reports. Janez Jansa said the countries undersigning the statement expressed unique position concerning the Caucasus region.
“Peace, stability and territorial integrity should be ensured in Georgia and in the region and European perspective should be given to the region. The international community should get involved in order to prevent further escalation of the conflict. It is not right that the Russian officials compare the recognition of South Ossetia and Abkhazia with Kosovo,” he said.
Ivars Godmanis said Russia and Georgia’s being at war caused problems for European Neighborhood Policy. He supported his Czech counterpart’s statement that European Union had unique foreign energy policy. Mirek Topolanek said the issue would be one of the priorities of Czechia that would replace France in the European Union.
