Head of Emperor Marcus Aurelius’ statute found during archeological excavations in Turkey

Istanbul – APA. The team from the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium unearthed fragments of marble sculpture depicting the Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius at the ancient city of Sagalassos, in the south-west of Turkey. The statue’s head, hand holding a globe and lower legs have been discovered. APA reports that two weeks ago the researchers found a huge head and arm belonging to Faustina the Elder - wife of the emperor Antoninus Pius.
